What’s the difference between VMAX and Spectrum Tab Tension?

There are a lot of similarities in Elite products but there are also differences that are crucial in determining which screen will be best for its particular installation. This discussion points out the differences between the VMAX2 and the Spectrum Tab-Tensioned projector screens despite both being very similar in appearance. Please note the comparison sheets below.

  • [18:22]        Rick: Both of these screens use the Max White material. They have a lot of similarities but the VMAX2 typically has a few more features, more available sizes and there is a slight difference in how the material is mounted.
  • [18:23]        Rick: The  Vmax2 uses a fiber glass backing on the material to provide added thickness for extra flatness.
  • [18:24]        Rick: the Spectrum tab tension uses the tab tension connections to keep the screen from curling at the edges and flattens out the screen. It’s important to mention that neither screen should be used with UST or short throw projectors. They do however present a nice flat surface for standard projectors.
  • [18:27]        Rick: the VMAX 2 120 inch is priced at $647 with free shipping and the 135 inch is priced at $812. These prices are from our shop site at www.shop.elitescreens.com

  • [18:41]        Rick: Both are similar in maintenance. The Spectrum is the entry level screen and the Vmax is the same but with more features and size options. The Spectrum Tab Tension has additional modifications that bring up the price a little bit.
