Can I get an ALR material that is too large?

with No Comments

This customer is interested in getting the best type of screen material for his church.  In this case, there is adequate control over ambient light, the cost of a white material is lower, and the spread-out orientation of the venue means that not everyone would benefit from the features of our CineGrey 3D-5D® materials.   Our team is more interested in customer satisfaction than upselling to a product that in this case, would not be necessary.

[19:23]        Rick: Hello, how may I help you.

[19:24] Customer: Hello, I’m curious about some of your screen types, I’m looking for a fixed frame 16:9 screen in either 165″ or 180″ diagonal for a church, I was wondering about the ambient light rejection screen vs one of the CineWhite screens. Also, are there any issues about using an ALR screen that is so big that some people may be off axis?

[19:26] Customer: What do you tend to recommend for churches when stage lights are also being used? We would be able to control our lights to have minimal splash onto the screen Currently we have two 4:3 screens to either side of the stage, but want to change to a single 16:9 in the middle.

[19:28]        Rick: Due to having a wide area the ambient light controlled. A white material will work just fine. You are also correct about off axis viewers not getting the full benefit of the screen. ALR materials have narrower viewing angles. Much of it is due to its ability to reject off-axis light. When it comes to gaining the advantage in both cost and performance, I recommend the Cinewhite material since you can control the light and splash on the screen. the model will be ER180WH2 this is a 16:9 screen. Here is a great video on being in a projection screen’s “sweet spot”.  If the ALR screen is too big for its venue, many viewers will not benefit from optimal placement: https://elitescreens.com/elitetube/ALR_CLR_SweetSpot_VideoWeb.mp4

[19:30] Customer: Okay, that’s good to know. Our auditorium is quite wide and so the view angle from the outer edges is likely 70 degrees off axis (from perpendicular to the screen if that makes sense)

[19:32] Customer: Other than price, is there much difference between the Sable Frame, and the EZFrame2?

[19:33]        Rick: the only difference is the frame design. the EZframe 2 is more of a block frame design. the Sable frame is rounded to the inner edge.  The material is the same. It is all about the aesthetics and cost difference in manufacturing the framework.

[19:36] Customer: Okay, thank you very much for the info. I think we’ll go with your recommendation.

[19:37]        Rick: Great, if you have any further questions, please let me know.

[19:37] Customer: Thank you for all the help Rick. Have a great day

[19:37]        Rick: My pleasure.  Thank you for choosing Elite Screens.
